Appearance is not the strong point of  Dell Latitude 3420 compared to Inspiron, Vostro or XPS lines even though Dell has had a complete makeover compared to previous generation versions.

Dell latitude 3420 is designed entirely of plastic but is extremely sturdy, well finished, compact, not too thin about 1.7 cm and weighs only 1.5 kg, still very easy to move.

Flexible, sturdy hinges that open and close 180 degrees conveniently, masculine and strong colors.

The connection ports on the device include: 3 USB A 3.2 gen 1 ports, charging jack, HDMI 1.4, USB C 3.2 gen 2, lock, LAN, 3.5 jack, microSD.

The connection port is very complete, you will not need to buy an additional converter port, the USB C port supports image output, fast Power Delivery charging, and reverse charging for other devices, very convenient.

Side B has two thin screen borders, the top/bottom borders are thicker but look quite balanced with the overall machine, integrated webcam with HD resolution, status indicator light and directional microphone to serve well for online learning and meetings, an extremely necessary need in the current covid 19 epidemic.

Inside is a 14-inch screen, 16:9 ratio, HD resolution and not too wide color gamut with 66% sRGB, brightness of about 270 nits.

Although it only has HD resolution and the color range is not really excellent, the images displayed on the Dell Latitude 3420 are actually very sharp, with an anti-glare coating so the images are less reflected by light from the outside. Overall, the screen on the Dell Latitude 3420 still meets the needs of studying, entertainment, and office.

On the C side, the touchpad is spacious, the touchpad is large, the mate color is the same, multi-touch is smooth, and the left and right buttons are sturdy.

The keyboard is compact, the layout is easy to get used to, the key surface is a bit matte, so it is quite enjoyable to type, but the travel is a bit shallow, so the experience is moderate, especially the Dell latitude 3420 is a rare laptop in the 13 million segment equipped with a keyboard backlight that not all brands have.

Dell latitude 3420 performance evaluation in 2022 through some test software

The Dell latitude 3420 version I'm reviewing is equipped with an Intel core i3 1115G4 CPU, 8GB RAM buss 3200Mhz, 256 GB SSD hard drive with high read and write speed of about 3000Mb/s.

CPU core i3 1115G4 is the latest 11th generation CPU from Intel, the process is improved with many new technologies so it gives extremely stable performance.

Actual test results show that the Intel core i3 1115G4 CPU has only 2 cores and 4 threads, so the performance is only adequate but quite stable, with few sudden pulse drops. Using office tasks, surfing the web, entertainment, and watching movies does not cause lag.

Although the iGPU integrated on the i3 1115G4 is still only UHD graphics, it is enough to serve daily tasks at my company such as: watching movies, surfing the web, editing images on photoshop or occasionally entertaining by playing some light online games such as LMHT, Fo4, Valorant for example.

In addition, Dell latitude 3420 also supports Wifi 6 AX & bluetooth 5.0 wireless connection standards for faster, more stable wireless connection. TPM 2.0 security and some utilities such as: Dell Power Manager, Dell Mobile Connect can also be installed and used.

Regarding the temperature on the Dell latitude 3420, it is quite cool. The device is only equipped with one fan and one heat sink, but with a scientific design, a plastic shell and good temperature optimization, when used, there is little heat in the hand.

Review of battery life and speakers on Dell latitude 3420 laptop

Dell latitude 3420 is equipped with a 3-cell battery - 41Whr, the time I used multitasking with stress test the machine lasted 3.5 hours, when using basic office applications it can last up to 5 - 6 hours.

In addition, the device is also integrated with fast charging technology with USB C port and 65W type C charger included, charging 1.5 hours to fully charge this 41Whr battery.

You don't have to worry about speakers on Dell lines in general, Dell latitude 3420 in particular, the device has built-in dual speakers 2W x 2, loud volume, good sound quality, great for meetings or online learning, entertainment, listening to music and watching movies.
